Sam and his Surgery

Surgery...round 2.  This time it was Sam's turn at the hospital.  Sam has had a few breathing problems - several uppper respiratory infections, ear infections, chronic nasal congestion, nightime (and naptime) snoring, etc.  It was time to have his adnoids removed.  So, on a bright and cool Thursday morning, the little guy and I headed to the hospital in Glasgow.  

Waiting before surgery.  Sam was the youngest patient of the day, which meant he was the first in the OR.  We waited for about 2 hours before the nurses wheeled him back in the wagon (the doctor flies in to the hospital from another city).

Sam passed the "waiting" time by repeatedly calling the nurses' station on the remote they gave him. 

Still sleeping in the hospital bed after surgery.  Sam was the only one still asleep in recovery.  I guess he opened his eyes for a few minutes, rolled to his stomach when the nurse put the warmer on him, and then dozed off again.  He was snoring at this point.

Enjoying the truck book (on the dog bed, of course).  Everything is awesomer with that truck book. 

Surgery went well.  Sam stopped snoring about a week after surgery and his "stuffiness" has decreased nearly 90%!  The length of his naps have also increased and he doesn't wake up at night until about 5 am.  I'd say the procedure was a success!
