We have been wanting to bring the dog swimming lately to cool her off, work on water retrieves, and to really see if she could even swim. It would be so convenient to practice her swimming at the lake we LIVE on, but Lake Bowdoin is a very salty giant marsh (although Gauge has already been in Lake Bowdoin splashing around, we wanted to minimize the stinging in her eyes). So, it was off to Nelson Reservoir on a hot, bug-filled afternoon.
Gauge has such a natural instinct for retrieving, trailing, and now swimming that it was nothing for her to jump in the water and grab the dummy without incident. She did plow her head under water for a second, but popped right back up.

| Such a good swimmer. She definitely had a good time. I'm kinda shocked that she hasn't hopped into the bathtub with the kids yet (she just licks the soap off of them and the water that is on the side of the tub). |
