Ahhh, Fall. I love fall - the smell of the crisp air and crunchy leaves wafting underfoot (reminds me of fall in Minnesota); warm afternoons followed by cool evenings perfect for bonfires or snuggling the minis in cozy jammies; and, one of my favorites, picnicing with the elk at Slippery Ann.
This year we managed to trek to elkland thrice. Our first trip was the very beginning of October. It was a little cooler, blustier, than last year. We picked Jack up from school to make the short jaunt south to CMR by dusk. As expected, Slippery Ann was loaded with elk; several bulls were ornery, chasing off rag bulls and initiating scuffles between each other to protect their harims of cows.

| Bugling bulls. I just can't get enough of the elk bugle. It is such an awesome experience, especially to be within 15 yards of a herd. |

| Sam taking in the view. Last year, he was just a wee one not quite toddling along the rugged terrain. Boy, was I in for it a few months later! |
